Awos - Thunderstorm Warning

AWOS is an automated meteorological information system for collecting input data from sensors, and processing and distributing sensor data in real time.

A complete sensor system connected to AWOS is now available to give a warning to airports of approaching thunderstorms to reduce risks when refueling aircrafts.

A map image with the airport in the centre can be displayed in a separate window in the AWOS client system or in AWOS MetView client. Lightning strikes are presented in real time on the map together with the atmospheric electrical field strength at the airport.
