AWOS is the family name of a set of systems delivered by Saab Group.
AWOS is the fourth generation of weather reporting systems that is developed by Saab Group and Combitech AB in Sweden. The system employs client-server achitecture for automatic acquisation, processing and presentation of sensor data used to generate, edit and distribute meteorological reports intended for aviation. The system uses WIN XP in standard Pentium PC's.
All data are measured and processed according to ICAO and WMO regulations. Data is presented and distributed to the users in alfanumerics as MET REPORT/SPECIAL, METAR/SPECI and SYNOP. Data is also presented as graphics in 2-dimensional graphs and in GIS-oriented pictures. Combinations of all these presentations can be tailored locally according to the needs of the ATS unit.
The basic AWOS system can be a single or double server system with 1-99 active workstations connected. This system can also be connected to:
- AFTN / GTS
- ATIS and DATIS
- ATM-system
- Met View
- Web or Intranet
- CCTV or ITV
